Crop Nacional Mexico City Wrap Up
It's been a few weeks since JC, Jack and I traveled to Mexico City for a short trip so that I could teach at Crop Nacional. We left on Friday after work and after a very short layover in Phoenix (where we were walking very swiftly to the next gate which was super far away) we got on Jack's 28th flight. We arrived in Mexico City late Friday night to a lovely welcoming committee and then went straight to the Hotel Geneve.
The event was on Saturday and after working with Diana Rivera Torres for almost a year, it was amazing! She had produced such a fantastic and beautiful event for 75 women. We had a blast making the Good Times mini album, playing with acrylic and watercolor paints, the Fuse and the Minc! Before the event, I scripted a custom print (that Diana had laser printed) for the ladies, and they did some really fun things with mixing the foils to create mini masterpieces. I had a translator, even though many of the folks spoke and understood English. Considering I know about 10 phrases in Spanish, the translator was a necessity. Overall I could not have been happier or more impressed with the event, the people, the food - I tried papitas adobadas for the first time and must have consumed 3 bowls for lunch. The women attending the event could not have been sweeter - many of them traveling from very far away (12 hours on a bus!!). It was a special and wonderful event. Here's a collage of photos taken on my phone.
What a wonderful day spent with some amazingly talented and fun women. Just discovered this video posted by Izzy Creations as well as this one by Dulce Scrap. The official photographer for the event, Gerardo Aguilar took way better photos and even made me a little collage.
JC and Jack were able to do sightseeing and went to the zoo (it was free!) and a couple museums while I was teaching. And we got to explore the city a bit together on Sunday before our 4pm flight back home.
A huge thank you to Diana and all the wonderful people who made Crop Nacional possible! And I'm still thinking about the tacos we had on Saturday night.
We loved what we were able to see in such a fun, quick work trip. And we hope to be back in Mexico City again soon!
