Studio Calico - Sandlot Kits!
So most of my projects this month use photos taken by Dustin Prickett from Sunglow Photography from my BFF's wedding. I was her Maid of Honor, and she asked for an album as the wedding gift. How could I say no? Though I was limited on time (aren't we all?) my layouts came together with ease with the lovely Sandlot kits. Just like last month, I challenged myself to use multiple photos for every single layout. As much as I love utilizing awesome products, I am realizing more and more that I want the pages I create for myself (and others) to really focus on what people will love looking back on most. Since I have a deadline of mid-September to pull my best friend's wedding album gift together, these kits came at a perfect time. My main kit only layout was actually a lift off of this sweet page by Olatz. Love how she used the circles creatively, but since there were no donuts at the wedding, I used a circle punch on the 3x4 prints by Persnickety Prints. Their quality is truly remarkable, and of course chose them to print the photos of the big day. I used the backer tag from the Knot & Bow fabric strip and hand wrote "DELIGHT" in pencil, punched the holes and hand-stitched using turquoise crochet thread. The "in the details" was typed on my typewriter.
Using the add-on's from the Sandlot kits, I wanted to make sure to get all the photos of the couple and the first dance on the page. I did a little dance myself when it finally came together in a way that worked without looking too overdone.
As much as I wanted to hold onto that Good Vibes Only tag from the Jet add-on, I forced myself to use it and I am so glad I did. I had to squeeze in a layout for myself since the tag and picture seemed to go perfectly together. The photo was taken on 4th of July with my iPhone of JC taking Jack to put his feet into the ocean. I had it printed to 8x12 by Persnickety Prints and trimmed it a little so I could get the stripes above and below it.
Then came the Project Life pages, which turned out to be a 1 page insert instead of a spread. This is going into Courtney's wedding album, which will be composed of mixed sized pages. Using only the Project Life Sandlot kit, I created this simple page with a focus on the photos. The little wood banners are just divine.
